DHSITE 3312-C00. Data Curation: How to Preserve, Share, and Discover Datasets

This workshop will address topics in the curation of digital research data in each of the phases of its lifecycle, including its generation, acquisition, meta-data, archiving and retrieval. We will examine the structure and organization of research datasets in a sample of disciplines and examine how they are managed, referenced, used and re-purposed. The workshop will cover the identification and formats for data, the metadata standards used for documenting data (such as DDI), their publication in data archives and repositories, the application of linked-data in the digital humanities and some of the technologies for data analytics, including visualization tools. Some of the social aspects of data management such as sharing and attribution, data-management policies, open access and privacy will also be addressed.
