LINCS + DHSITE 2024

This May LINCS and DHSITE will come together for a conference and workshops, lectures, and networking at the University of Ottawa!

The Linked Infrastructure for Networked Cultural Scholarship (known as LINCS) launched in 2021 through a CFI Cyberinfrastructure Grant to enable researchers to create interlinked and contextualized online data about culture to benefit scholars and the public. A cross-Canada collaborative team, LINCS is developing the tools and infrastructure to make humanities data more discoverable, searchable, and shareable. Discover how you can explore, create, and publish cultural data.

LINCS’ annual conference is being held 5 to 8 May 2024 at the University of Ottawa and will overlap with DHSITE on 8 and 9 May 2024 to unite researchers, librarians, students and more around cultural scholarship and cultural memory. LINCS’ “Forward Linkingconference and workshops offer an opportunity to engage in new research and tool development on topics covering all aspects of linked data for the study of culture in the Canadian context and beyond. DHSITE’s “Cultural Translations” workshops centre on feminist digital crafting, responsible machine translation, and the ethical practice of citation and research assessment. Together, LINCS and DHSITE sessions aim to strengthen relationships among cultural organizations and Humanities and Social Science researchers for mutual and public benefit. As LINCS’ call for papers articulates, research in these sectors happens against the background of historical and ongoing colonization and inequity. The conference and the workshops aim to foster discussion and work towards strategies for using linked data to advance justice, reconciliation, and ethical and responsible use of technology.

Registration is now open!
